Our home study was complete on March 15th and we’ve been approved! I know most of you are like, “duh!” but there are no guarantees in adoption. It was about a three-month process from first application to complete write up and we’re glad to have the first big milestone behind us. Our second giant stack of paper work (the “dossier” that gets sent to Ethiopia) is only awaiting one item. Then we can send it to our agency and officially get on the wait list (second big milestone).

We went to an event to hear author, Sherrie Eldridge speak. She was adopted domestically 40 years ago. She’s an amazing, warm person and her books are great. Mark and I won the raffle grand prize, three autographed books! Sweet.

We went to the Bela Fleck show at the Granada Theater. He’s a virtuoso banjo player working on a project tracing the banjo’s roots back to Africa. He was accompanied by musicians from all over Africa. The show was absolutely surreal, an amazing experience.

We attended a potluck with a bunch of north Texas families who have adopted and are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia. It was so great to meet everyone, see all of the beautiful kids, and converse in the foreign language that is adoption lingo. We look forward to making more friends and scheduling future play dates.

Mark's mom stopped in Dallas of a long weekend during her annual US tour.
We went to the Ft. Worth Rodeo. Lot's of fun!
We also went to Queen of Sheba in Addison for a lovely Ethiopian meal. I thought it was really great, which surprised Mark since I'm not much of a veggie eater.
